SERIES TWO - ROUND 4 at Mount Torrens has been cancelled due to a lack of nominations.
WE APOLOGISE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE!
In our first ever Sportif Series 2, the Cyclo Sportif riders were greeted by sunny skies in the beautiful Gumeracha – a new location for this year, with flat roads and quick descents making for exciting riding.
The round received a reasonable turnout with a mixture of fresh faces and seasoned Sportif veterans, and although not a race, there were still some serious bragging rights on offer. The teams got to choose from 2, 3 or 4 laps of the 16km course, with awards for the fastest men’s, women’s and mixed teams. The fastest lap of the day went to the Megabike team – covering the course in 28 mins and 30 seconds – well done!
Extra Hot Expressos took out the fastest women’s lap, whilst the PACC Posse were the quickest in the mixed category. All of these fastest lap riders received KOM vouchers, kindly supplied by the Café on Anzac Highway.
Riders also all went into the draw for prizes provided by PEDALIT and Science in Sport, with almost all of the field taking home something for their efforts.
Cycling South Australia would like to thank the Adelaide Hills Council for their support in facilitating the round.
We would also like to thank Central District Cycling Club and marshalls – without their donated time this event would not be possible!
With three more rides in the series, there is plenty of time to get involved in Cycling SA’s Cyclo Sportif in 2018. For more information or to register for upcoming rides, please visit the homepage.
The first round of the 2018 Cyclo Sportif Series Two is almost upon us, and excitedly, Science in Sport (SiS) will be joining us as a sponsor for the upcoming four-round series.
SiS, a leading sports nutrition company, develops, manufactures, and markets innovative sports supplements and nutrition products for use by professional athletes and sports enthusiasts. With over 25 years of operation, the company is well known and regarded in the cycling community.
Cycling SA CEO, Lachlan Ambrose, shares his enthusiasm around the sponsorship: “Every time we put the products out during Series 1, everybody’s eyes lit up with excitement, so we’re really happy to have them back for Series 2. SiS is a great supporter of Australian cycling, also sponsoring the Australian Cycling Team, and we’re very proud that we can bring these benefits to our members.”
SiS’s sponsorship will involve them providing round prizes, which adds to the discount they already give all Cycling Australia members.

When Fitness Faster owner and operator Nicki Jennison developed the Bike Blitz programme, we knew she would be a perfect partner for the forthcoming Series 2 of Cycling SA’s CycloSportif.
In the 20 years Jennison has been training individuals and groups, she came to recognise that a lot of recreational cyclists needed to build core strength to help stabilise themselves on the bike and efficiently use their leg strength. The result was Bike Blitz, a gym and home-based strength programme designed specifically for cyclists to improve their strength, posture and fitness, whilst reducing the chances of injuries from imbalances and overtraining.
Of the programme, Jennison says “I know how frustrating it can feel to not reach your full potential or to feel achy on the bike, so I hope that the riders enjoy the benefits and guidance of the Fitness Faster Bike Blitz programme.” Jennison notes that the Bike Blitz programme is particularly beneficial during the wet winter months, “when you can complement outdoor rides with indoor strengthening exercises that can be easily done at home or at the gym”.
As a Series 2 CycloSportif sponsor, Fitness Faster will provide race prizes, as well as a generous 10% discount on the Bike Blitz programme to all CycloSportif riders.
CSA CEO Lachlan Ambrose describes the new relationship with Fitness Faster as “a wonderful partnership for the Sportif.” “We love running the Sportif and it is really exciting to have great companies on board who want to share in the experience. We know that the participants are really grateful for the support of these sponsors.”
